Taylor Gray
Global Head of Brand
Thomson Reuters

Before his role at Thomson Reuters, Taylor was Worldwide Associate Publisher and Marketing Director at TIME. He was responsible for new business development, advertising sales strategy, research, new media, events and promotional planning. He was also President of TIME.com, overseeing the publishing and editorial strategy for the site. Under his direction TIME.com grew to be the largest magazine site and the fifth largest news site on the web.

Gray also served as Marketing Director of TIME Magazine from 1997 through 2002. He has played a key role in shaping and communicating TIME’s brand image to advertisers and marketers as well as consumers for the past six years. For TIME’s 75th anniversary in March 1998, Gray staged an event that “without question,” stated The New York Times, “was the party of the year.” The event at Radio City Music Hall was an extraordinary mix of 1,200 of the century’s newsmakers, and one hundred TIME cover subjects attended. Also during Gray’s tenure, Adweek magazine twice named TIME #1 on its list of the 10 hottest magazines in America. In 1998-1999, marketing programs developed by Gray and his team for the “TIME 100: People of the Century” series of profiles helped increase TIME’s ad-page leadership to record levels.

Gray joined TIME from the Reader’s Digest Association, where he was Director of U.S. Magazine Research Services from 1992 to 1996. Prior to joining Reader’s Digest, Gray spent six years at U.S. News & World Report in a variety of positions including Marketing Manager, Sales Representative, and Research Director.

As a New York AMA board member, Gray hopes to accomplish several goals. Utilizing his organizational and marketing skills he’d like to continue to expand and promote the EFFIE® Awards throughout the advertising and media communities. He’d also like to help the organization identify and communicate emerging marketing trends and promote best practices.

A 1984 graduate of Brown University, Gray currently resides in Old Greenwich, Connecticut with his wife and two children. His interests include music, cooking, exercise and travel.
