By the time a Global Effie entry has reached the winners’ circle, it has survived two rounds of evaluation. The experience of the judges ensures that Effie is honoring the industry’s most effective work.
Judging
Global Effie Round One judging takes place on multiple continents. The highest scoring cases from Round One will proceed to the Final Round. In Final Round judging, all Global Effie finalist cases are judged.
In both rounds, all elements of an entry, the written case and creative elements, are judged; the creative elements are viewed via a central screen in the front of the judging room. Juries discuss the cases after they have reviewed. However, scoring is done individually without discussion. All scoring is anonymous and confidential.
Global Effie Scoring Criteria
Judges are asked to evaluate an entry’s effectiveness using the following scoring system:
70% of the case score, equally weighted
- Strategic Challenge + Objectives
- Idea
- Bringing the Idea to Life
30% of the case score
- Results
The judges’ scores determine which entries are to be awarded a gold, silver or bronze Effie trophy. Each winning level, gold, silver, bronze, has a minimum score required in order for a finalist to be eligible for an award. Effie Trophies are awarded at the discretion of the judges. It is possible that a category may produce one, two, three or four winners of any level or perhaps no winners at all.
The 2011 Global Effie Judging will take place in the Spring of 2011. The locations are To Be Determined.
The 2010 Global Effie Judging events took place in Mexico, London (hosted by the Wall Street Journal), Singapore (hosted by the Wall Street Journal) and New York City. Final judging in New York City was also hosted by the Wall Street Journal.
